Secret Valentine

Many people go through life without discovering the pure magic of meeting their soulmate. This 'Secret Valentine' poem reflects on the special moments of connection shared between two people, who connect on a deeply emotional level.

Imagine solely drinking water all of your life, and then to experience the sparkle of champagne. Well, quite honestly could you go backwards, to the 'run-of-the-mill' relationship where you do not experience the goosebumps on your skin, butterflies in your stomach, and the hanging on every word uttered by that significant other.

Elle Smith perfectly sums up the sentiments that reflect that soulmate love in this piece of poetry.

Secret Valentine by Elle Smith A Poem A Day inspired by Elle Smith

It’s been a few years since first we met,

without a single memory to regret.

Our love took time to mature like wine,

today I announce, it’s time for you to be mine.

Each day without you is wasted time,

as there’s no purpose or sync in this life.

Together with you the hours just melt,

each moment filled with memories immense.

I had to realize with no other could it ever be right,

which is why I miss you each and every night.

Sometimes I sense you during the day,

remembering our passion as together we played.

There is a warmth flowing across my soul,

just like you feel it too, and need me to be whole.

These moments of connection keep you near,

undoubtedly you are my twin spirit, my dear.

I hope you read these words out loud,

to know I am devoted and ever so proud.

Lovely! I’ve never quite been able to meet anyone, so a soulmate seems like a pretty far-fetched dream at this point. Thanks for this little window into what it feels like! I do have a platonic friend I’m very close with, and while it’s different, that is a very special relationship to me too.
