Dancing Without You

London artist and poet, Elle Smith evokes those feelings of loneliness of a relationship passed, in this original poem called 'Dancing Without You'. Although, this poetry is about sadness, it is also nostalgic as imagery is conjured like magic:

Dancing Without You - Original Poem by Elle Smith

Dancing Without You

Dancing and spinning,

now alone without you.

My world has crumbled,

as I feel lonely and blue.

We twirled and my heart

gently floated on air.

Within your strong arms,

I had no worry or care.

It was like being wrapped,

in bubbles of cotton wool.

You were my comfort,

as a blanket or even a snood.

The cold world outside,

disappeared and was not there.

You holding me tightly,

is simply beyond compare.

It’s always nice to have those arms where you forget about all your troubles. I definitely know about the pain that comes with those arms leaving. Excellent poem!

This is beautiful! I can completely relate to the feelings in this poem and it’s beautifully said. My favorite line is: “in bubbles of cotton wool”, so descriptive and it really gives you a sense of what it feels like to be in love and feel comfortable. Great portrayal of these feelings. Definitely one of my favorite poems I’ve read in a really long time.

Oh Elle. That’s beautiful. You can be a real heart ripper. That’s beautiful too.
I hope I made somebody feel like that. That’s being a good … a real man.

Colours of Love

This original poem suggests that there are Colours of Love, and that as Elle Smith recites in beautiful verse that love traverses different stages, or the full colour spectrum as the love within a relationship deepens. From the beginning to complete and everlasting love, we go through a vibrant spectrum of colours:

Time At Sea

Time at Sea is an original poem by Elle Smith, where she compares life as we know it, to being at sea. Often we feel like we are on a journey, with an unclear destination or even timeframe for our arrival. This poem describes this journey with reference to the impact of time and the water of the sea:
